Have a great summer everyone!

It was a pleasure sharing this semester with all of you. Through your posts I got to know you a bit better and you taught me a lot.
I know that many of you are graduating and moving on to other universities, some close, some far away.
So, what I have to say to you is this:
Go! Do it! And do it well!

God bless you all!

keep up the good work everybody, hopefully I won't see you guys on the road later on in our lives. ;)

Thanks Chris... Do I detect the famous "Chris Potts" sarcasm there?

I enjoyed your class. I hope you don't feel disrespected by my "lack" of note taking for the last test. =P Hope to see you guys around.

Athena Smith said...

See you around J_Rambo. Don't worry about note-taking. The only behavior that ticks me off is that darn cell phone addiction...
Watch this!

I was taking a full course load this semester, but out of all my classes, yours was my favorite. You are a very intelligent lady and I know that some of the things that I learned in your class will stay with me forever. I have a new view of the world and a need to help the children in other countries. I am already searching for some organization or group to join where I might be able to make some difference. Thank you

Thank you for the very kind words Dlandon. We might be able to do a project in a Third World country next spring semester actually. The Ybor city campus did one in 2004 in Ghana. It needs however tons of preparation to get the funding.

She likes the Angry Professor video, watch out cell phones. The Information Revolution is being attacked by the Professor.

Thank you country girl fot your contributions to the blog.

Alright guys, no more compliments because my head is spinning, which means I am starting to believe you against my best judgement.

If you feel positive, post your plans for the summer or tell a joke. Or cite some lyrics.

If you feel negative, keep your peace! :))
(just kidding, I'm open to suggestions)

Summer plans?psh..
my summer plans end on June 30 th when I come back to school for a dose of summer math(how miserable!)
But actually, I am going to Mexico next week. My father's girlfriend is an opera singer and she is performing there and he thought it would be a good time for me to go visit him there. He works there so he knows the place well.

Athena Smith said...

Mexico! That is a plan!Until June 30th you got 7 weeks. I hope it's not all opera...
Stay away from margaritas. They come extral large over there!

I am so sorry I had to drop this class early due to a work conflict. I intend to retake it. I enjoyed reading the blog and I wish you a nice summer. Myself I am going to Cape Cod. Are you going to Greece this summer Dr. Smith?

Athena Smith said...

Hi Jennifer!
Cape Cod... I'd give up my right hand to go fishing there.
Yes, I am going to Greece again, through Omaha beach, where I am taking my daughetrs to see the D-Day site and cemetery. Who had called that generation the "greatest generation ever?"

I'll post photos from there.
Keep in touch!

I dont know. I googled it and it says anchorman anchor Tom Brokaw who wrote the book with that title... I don't know if he borrowed the title from a politician.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”--Maryanne Williamson

Thanks for a great semester, and have a wonderful summer.

What a quote!I'll print it out, frame it, and put it over my desk.
See how right I was when I said that I learned from you as well?
God bless you!

That is amazing that you had the opportunity to travel so far for Memorial Day all the way to England. The cemetery looks very similar to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. I have always wanted to travel to Washington DC to visit but I have not been able to get to that destination due to my commitment to football. I love to travel I have had the pleasure of visiting many different countries to go hunting with my father and brother. We tend to go after the football season is over. That way it doesn’t interrupt the season. So, once I get the chance I would like to visit Washington DC.

Clayton county school distract should take some type of responsibility for all those kids who are goint to graduate from high school and most of them won't get expcepted into any collegeg not even a community college. it is hard trying to go to school and pay for your own tuiton. I am in that same situatiion right now. Having to work full time and go to school full time isn't easy and that is what is going to happen to alot of this kids coming out of high school. The board of education could have taken some type of action to prevent this from happening. When you graduate from high school is one of the biggest momnets in your life, and fro some of those students in clayton county it might not mean anything to them.my experiences in high school were not that bad, and i thank god i was fortunite engough to attend a decent school district that was required by the law for students to take standerdize test every year. I hope everything works out for those kids and i wish them the best of luck.
